Access to Private Blogs
-
‘”http://support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ :
“Note: WordPress.com employees can read all blog regardless of Privacy setting.””‘Yes we can. But we don’t.
We work with hundreds of blogs every day and just because we can do something does not mean we would do so.Let’s say you have a blog set to Private and something goes wrong. What if we said “We can’t see it so please make the blog public so we can help”? That is unacceptable as would you then having a broken blog.
We absolutely respect everyone’s privacy.
@ruinitall – please contact me through Support. I am unaware of any exploits here and only we can verify whatever is being said.

raincoaster, thanks for the suggestion, but I think it should have become apparent by now that this is not such a simple case.
Mark, I will contact you when I know something definite.

It is not a difficult case. You came here claiming to know details about a serious situation but refusing to reveal specific information.
Of course WordPress has access to private blogs—as Mark says, it is necessary if there is a problem WordPress needs to fix. The weakest part of any security system is the human connection, but to bring up an issue like this, in a public forum, based on hearsay is unproductive.
The ethical problem is yours to solve, and I hope that you will indeed contact Mark when you know “something definite.” -
1tess, you make it sound like I was pressing accusations or something… Perhaps the reason is that English is not my native language and sometimes it’s hard to understand. If I wanted it to be an attack on WordPress, I wouldn’t have used the support forums to raise the issue. Of course, nobody has to pay attention to what I wrote because I didn’t provide any evidence.
I realise that the ethical problem is mine, mainly because it’s not my secret to reveal. Personally, I hope that he gained access to her computer and found out the password or something like this. Mark seems confident enough that reading the blog in another way is impossible, which is reassuring. I would like to apologise for posting on the topic; I will contact the support if I can provide any further information. Feel free to close the thread.

I’m glad you came back to post this. You have to understand that none of us knows you (nor for the most part, each other). I’ve been involved in other forums where people have pretended to be someone else—one even to the point of faking a suicide and then coming back as a “friend” to continue the ruse. The whole situation was very painful, and it taught me to be a bit skeptical.
I think now that you did want to warn WordPress, and its users of a possible breach of security, as well as to talk to other people about the problem. I understand that you are a friend of this person, and you are worried about the right thing to do.
By the way, your English is excellent. Writing in emails or forums can be easily misunderstood because it lacks the other clues you have when you talk to someone in person.
To close this thread, you (the OP) should mark it resolved.
Best wishes to you.
