I hope that you can help me. We have an already existing website, we own the domaine and use it with a WordPress (I presume) account pointing to our Simply.com host. However, it was a small company that made the website for us, and now we no longer use them, but I need to correct something on the site. How would I be able to get that access, when I need to be able to logon to this specific website?

It sounds like you’re using another hosting provider to host your WordPress site. Can you share the link to your site so that we can check and confirm?
If your site is hosted elsewhere, you’ll need to contact your hosting service provider. Since the site is hosted on their platform, only they have access to it to help you.
Notably, we can help if your site is hosted by us at WordPress.com. There are two versions of WordPress — WordPress.com, which is us, and WordPress.org, which is any WordPress site hosted by other providers.
There are some differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you aren’t sure about them, please check the following page that explains it well: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.
I understand that your immediate concern is updating your site, and for that, you’d need to contact your hosting service provider. If your host asks you to contact WordPress support for help, they are referring to this other forum: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ – which is specifically for sites using the WordPress.org software on other hosts.
