Accessibility for Comments by followers
-
I have a blog on accessibility and one of my followers pointed out that making a comment on my blog was not all that accessible… is there a way to make commenting on my blog a one step process?… just a type and submit… no need for formatting options or logging in… just type what you want and submit. Also what are other web accessibility options for wordpress and what are procedures in place to be sure wordpress can be accessed by everyone?

That’s pretty much how a comment works now. There are no formatting options, unless you know HTML. There are a few login options, but you can choose to comment as a guest without logging in.
Specifically, which accessibility features were you looking for?

This is what one of my users said they had an issue with.
‘There are actually 2 edit fields for the actual comment, and I had a hard time knowing that just by tabbing through the form.’
I am curious as to what kind of procedures wordpress has in place for accessibility to their sites. Also what type of research was done before the website was created.
How do you create easy blogging for people with very little computer experience?
Thank you for your time!

2 edit fields? There should only be one. Which browser are they using?
Again, accessibility depends on specifically which type. Blind, color blind, voice command, etc. We do our best to keep everything accessible to the widest audience, and appreciate user feedback to improve things.

hmm… i don’t know what browser he was using.
Accessibility does not need to be categorized… accessible means it can be used by people of all abilities… meaning you take into account there are people of all abilities and it goes beyond disabilities like you are describing. It is also taking into account people’s knowledge of the product.
I am thankful to you for keeping everyone in mind and I will be sure to send anyone with accessibility issues to this forum. The quick response is really appreciated!

Is it possible this user was referring to a login form when commenting? If you’re not logged in, or if you’re commenting as a guest, you’ll need to enter your name and email information.
