Accessible WordPress themes
-
Hi. My blog is largely about welfare/benefits and I would like to have a theme that is as accessible as possible to those with dyslexia, limited vision, colorblindness etc.
I have searched online for ‘accessible wordpress themes’ and found several, but none that come up on my ‘themes’ search box. I can get to these themes through the links on the google page that mentions them, and I can download them, but when i try to access the download I get a message that ‘the parameter is not correct’.
Are there any themes currently available through the theme search box on the themes page that I could access instead? I am looking for something with an unfussy simple presentation that is designed to maximise accessibility.
I’ve looked at Ward, WPstart and Accessible Zen, I particularly like the latter.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs like your blog are the themes found here http://wordpress.com/themes/
See here for a full comparison WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

You can suggest new themes in the Themes Forum at this link
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes#postformPost a suggestion for a new theme
Please give us the theme name, a link to view the theme, and—most importantly—why you like it and would love to have it on WordPress.com.
Please search the forum first for a suggestion on the same theme. If it exists, add your vote to the same topic and add a note about why you like the theme.

So it is not possible to refer me to an existing wordpress.com theme which has been weitten to be accessible?
-
It is not possible to refer you to themes which have been designated as such. You can surf through the themes and make your own decisions.

The following themes are tagged as accessibility-ready:

http://wordpress.org/themes/tags/accessibility-readyKeep in mind that most of what makes a site accessible is the content, not the theme—so make sure to use accessibility best practices for your content and you should be good to go.
