Accessing a domain renewed on wordpress.com

  Hi. I had a WordPress.com site with a Business Plan (bichopapel703750561.wordpress.com) and it had a domain (bichopapel.com) attached to it. Afterwards I migrated to another hosting and pointed this domain to new name servers, but kept it registered through WordPress.com.

  My last renewal was on July 1, and now I want to transfer the domain to a different registrar, but the dashboard on WordPress.com says that I don’t have access to that old site anymore, so I cannot access the domain settings to unlock it.

  Can you help please?

  BTW I have also tried transferring the domain to the new site (bichopapel703750561.wordpress.com) and the dashboard showed me that I could do it, but when clicking the link it does nothing.

  Hi there,

  I would suggest having a look through the domain transfer guide.

  https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/

  I’m not sure if it will work if you don’t have access to the site or not, so if that isn’t helpful, hopefully, somebody else can chime in.

  I’ll mark this for the staff to look at, they’ll know the best course of action.

  Ok, we can fix this, but we’ll need to fully downgrade the site to a free site first.

  I’m sure this is what you want, but it could result in the loss of any content created by plugins.

  Thanks staff-blorbo, yeah go ahead, the site itself has already been moved to another hosting. It may be deleted from WordPress.com.

  Also, under my current login I can’t see the “bichopapel703750561.wordpress.com” site on the WordPress.com dashboard, only the “atelierbichopapel.wordpress.com” one. But I still have the administrator credentials to “bichopapel703750561.wordpress.com”.

  Ok, that’s all fixed up now. :)

  You can transfer the domain by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/
