Accessing a very old account
-
Hi, this is my first post here, please be gentle.
I created a blog long time ago, 2008 or before, with email/phone I don’t remember, or do not have anymore.
But somehow, recently, notifications from that account came into my current @gmail.com address.
I want to set things up to stop the notifications, but I can’t, as I cannot log into the account. Spent almost an hour doing account recovery process, to no avail.
Although I’m not a blogger but I created a number of wordpress.org-based websites, so I hate marking those emails as spam.
Please tell me what to do.
Thank you.

Hi there,
What is the url of the site you’re referring to?
If it is a WordPress.org site, you’ll need to look here for help: http://wordpress.org/support
For information on the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org please see: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hello,
It’s rasajeruk.wordpress.com
In the past few days it’s sending notification to my email about comments moderation, new followers, etc. Result of spambots I think. Although the spam does not appear in the site, but the notification went through.
IIRC I use another (now gone) email when creating the site, and use my current email as a 2nd admin and do some posts. So that’s why the notification comes to this email.
But, logging in to wordpress.com with this email still don’t give access to that blog.
I just want to address this situation the correct way, rather than blocking the email on my side.
Thank you.

There is a single means of wordpress.COM account recovery, and this is an Account Recovery issue for Account Recovery Staff to deal with.
Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
* You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with the actual blog’s name in that URL.
You can update your email address here https://wordpress.com/me
If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login correctly under the relevant username account.
If you did not register the site under your username account and do not have the required access, then you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it, and have them act or transfer the site to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
If the login information has been lost go to
https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#lost-passwordIf you check each and every possible email address and account and are not successful gaining access to the blog(s) then you must complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff, and provide proof ownership, so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums, which are available to everyone with internet access.
Support Staff cannot breach the privacy policy and provide the log-in information. You have to provide proof ownership to Account Recovery Staff to gain access https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

Thank you very much! :D
I’m now able to go to the site’s dashboard :))
I really forgot about this username, still unsure why the notification went to my email, maybe I did create the username with this email but somehow the notification did not mention the username.
The email in the site now shows [redacted]
Thanks again!
