Accessing a website
-
I created a website ages ago for a church were my husband was pastor. He passed and I don’t attend there any more. They want me to take the site down and I can’t access it. How do I get help?

Hi @suekmoore104, I’m so sorry for your loss.
If the site is on WordPress.com, the quickest way is to log in with the email address originally used to create the site. If you don’t remember the login, you can use the account recovery form.
If you no longer want to manage the site yourself, you can also transfer ownership to the church by inviting their email under Settings → Manage → People.
If you still can’t access, please contact WordPress.com Support.
PS: I’m not a WordPress.com staff member, just a community volunteer trying to guide users.

I don’t remember what email address I used. I can’t access support because they said it is only for paid subscribers.

I understand @suekmoore104, that makes it more difficult. Even if you’re on a free plan, you can still use the account recovery form it will guide you based on any details you can remember (possible emails, connected phone, or domain).
If none of those work, you can fill out the Account Recovery Contact Form with proof of domain ownership (like a registrar receipt). That’s the only way WordPress.com can securely confirm access.
