Accessing account and spam emails

    Hi, I have couple of issues:
    An email account connected to a form on my organisations word press site has recently started being flooded with spam emails. These typically consist of large blocks of text which seem like they’re taken out of research papers. As I was trying to amend this I ran into an issue trying to access support. I can log into the interface which allows me to edit my site, however, this doesn’t seem to be the same log in details to login to my wordpress account(??). I’ve gone to the profile settings on the website interface site and changed the email and password however this has not fixed it.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi there,

    What is the URL of the site in question? The WordPress.com account you’re using to post here doesn’t own any sites.

    If this is a stand-alone site using the open source WordPress software at another host, then this is correct: your admin login details for that site has no connection whatsoever to your WordPress.com account.

    In that case you need to contact the developers of whichever contact form plugin you’re using on your site, and if their plugin doesn’t come with spam protection built in, find out from them which spam filter plugins/services are compatible with their plugin.

    Hi Kokkieh,

    Thanks for the reply. I made this account as I couldn’t find a way to access support when I didn’t have access to the account associated with my site.

    The site is http://www.bssg.org.au
    I suspected it may be something along the lines of what you’re saying. As I was not around when this site was built, is there anywhere on the dashboard I can see who developed the site?

    @angusmch there’s likely a way to figure out who the first user was. But you’ll want to be sure you’re posting in the correct forums, as these are the forums for free sites using our managed hosting service.

    Also, if you’re using a particular plugin for spam protection, be sure to check its forums, too. Good luck!
