Accessing archived posts from an XML file

I hired a company to redesign my website and convert it into a WordPress site. The URL for my blog also changed from “.com/wordpress” to “.com/blog”.
During the course of their work, they backed up the entire “original” site, including all my archived images and posts inside an .xml file.
I would love to be able to obtain the images and articles from that backup. Is there a plug-in or easy way for me to access those files?
Please advise.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and if that’s the site you need help with then this is the correct forum for your software http://wordpress.ORG/support/ If you have not registered a WordPress.org username account yet you can do so on the top right hand corner of the page I just linked to so you can post to those support forums.
