accessing my old wordpress website once it’s taken off-line (I haven’t deleted it!)

I can’t seem to access my old wordpress website even thought I didn’t delete it. Just redirected my domain http://www.kayvannorman.com to a new webpage. I am able to log in to word press but it says I have no sites. Please advise.

  • The old site appears to have been at Hostgator, so the files and database would be stored there. If you’re pointing the domain name to a different host, it can’t load those files anymore. You’ll need to find a way to point a domain there or get a temporary domain to connect to the files.

Your site isn’t here when you login, because this is a host. WordPress.com will only store the contents of sites hosted here. It’s not a hub for all sites powered by WordPress software. You might have connected your site here in the past with the Jetpack plugin, but your site wasn’t copied here.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are a little separate, and that can be confusing.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

You’ll want to use the forums at https://wordpress.org/support/ for any support on managing your site, or reach out to your host about if they offer something like a temporary domain to access what is stored on their servers. Hope that helps to point you in the right direction!
