Accessing old/duplicate website

    Hi,

I am trying to get an old version of a blog/website taken down but am running into issues with the ownership. I do not own the site but the person who does doesn’t seem to be able to access it either. I initially posted about this problem here: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/accessing-an-old-website-blog/

With no avail, the problem seems to be that the previous webmaster is receiving emails about the account but when she logs in to wordpress admin she doesn’t have administrator access which doesn’t really make sense.

Is there any way if a site is so many years old without updates/access to get it flagged to be taken down?

Wordpress.com never takes down sites on demand. Only the owner is able to do so.
As the owner receives emails but can’t edit that site, means she logs in to the wrong account. Or: that site is connected to another account of her.

Ok but she doesn’t know what the other account name or password is to be able to recover it, is there a way for her to get that information?

I guess I’m also just wondering if something happens to sites that haven’t be accessed/used for a long time, like do they get kept indefinintely? Just seems to me like it would take up a lot of server space.

The short answer is “yes”. Absent the owner using the site-deletion process, the sites stay up even if they are unused.

There are a few exceptions, but they all involve the owner (or in case of a death, their descendants) contacting us.
