Accessing where to edit pages
-
This is such a newbie question… it’s been ages since I’ve edited my blog… so long that the interface seems to have changed and I can’t find my way around. Where is the normal dashboard? I can go to the site and get a left menu including among the options, ‘WP Admin’ and ‘Pages’. But when I click on either, nothing happens. I want to edit a page. I’ve searched this in the forums and on support but can’t find where on earth I navigate to edit pages?
I took a screenshot to share, but can’t seem to find anywhere in this forum to upload it.
Appreciate the patient help.

Hi there. What you’ve encountered is the “New and Improved” dashboard. Thankfully, the familiar, classic dashboard with the bug-free classic editors still exists. Clicking on the WP-Admin link should take you there, but you can also use this direct link to reach your dashboard: http://lmighton.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
If the sidebar links on the My Sites page won’t work, try clearing your browser cache and cookies and see if that helps. Also check that your flash player and browser are updated. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/Regarding screen shots: you can’t paste them directly into the forum, but you can paste links to where the image is hosted on the web. For example, you can upload the screenshot to your media library and paste the URL here, or I prefer to use the website http://snag.gy/ . Just paste your image onto that site and then copy the URL it generates into your reply.

Very helpful, thanks for taking the time to write that.
In spite of following the suggestions, on the ‘new and improved’ dashboard the sidebar links still won’t work.
But the link you provided to the old dashboard does work and I was able to update the page there.

Thanks for letting us know.
Could you please let us know what browser and version you’re using? And have you tried using a different browser? I’ll tag this for staff to look into the issue of those broken links, and they’ll most likely need that information.

Hi
I didn’t think of trying a different browser, and just tried it now.
It worked in Safari (the links from the left menu work – ie. ‘Pages’, ‘Edit’.I went back and checked again in Chrome, and it (the left menu links, allowing you to edit your pages) still didn’t work. I checked, and I am on the most recent version of Chrome – Version 20.0.1132.57.

That’s so odd, I wonder why when I go to ‘About Chrome’, it says Version 20.0.1132.57
and then ‘Google Chrome is up to date.’??I will try to update and then to try to see if the left menu issue is resolved.

I did the update, and the links work.
Still puzzled about why it says ‘up to date’ when it is not, but at least it is now working.
Thank you!
