Hi @michaelhighsand, it sounds like the site is under a different account. Is the site hosted here with us? If so, here’s how we can help you regain access:

    Recover Your Account

If you’re trying to access an installation at another host, I’d recommend asking your host for help with these steps:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

Can you send a link to the site if you need more help? We’ll use that to point you in the right direction.

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

WordPress.com Forums ((email visible only to moderators and staff))
The address you sent your message to wasn’t found at the destination domain. It might be misspelled or it might not exist. Try to fix the problem by doing one or more of the following:

Send the message again, but before you do, delete and retype the address. If your email program automatically suggests an address to use, don’t select it.
Clear the recipient AutoComplete cache in your email program by following the steps in this article: Status code 5.1.1. Then resend the message, but before you do, be sure to delete and retype the address.
Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) to confirm you’re using the right address. Ask them if they’ve set up an email forwarding rule that could be forwarding your message to an incorrect address.

    Diagnostic information for administrators:

You can log in to your site at http://michaelhighsand.com/wp-admin/. We can’t help you as your site is in no way connected to a wordpress.com account for login.
Support for your site is at https://wordpress.org/support/

    also,

I have downloaded the app (desktop) and when I log in I again see the empty ‘site’ even when I correct the website address and email. Can I use the app on my desktop or iPad or iPhone?

or is it only if you are hosted at WP?

The desktop app will only show sites that are hosted on WordPress.com, OR connected to your WordPress.com account via the Jetpack plugin.

So to manage your self-hosted site via the WordPress desktop app, you’ll need to install the Jetpack plugin on the site, and connect it to your account with us.

For the iOS app, Jetpack is not connected – the mobile apps allow you to add a self-hosted WordPress site directly. But it will be simpler with Jetpack as well, as then you only need to log in using your WordPress.com username and password, and all your WordPress.com and Jetpack sites will be there automatically.

To use Jetpack, log into WP-Admin on your site, go to Plugins ->Add New, and search for and install Jetpack. Once you install and activate it, you should automatically see a prompt to connect it. Just follow the steps to authorise a connection to your WordPress.com account, and you should be all set.

Let us know if you run into any trouble with this process.
