Accidental activation of new theme, need to revert to former
-
Hello,
I was perusing the themes for my website tonight, and instead of hitting demo, I accidentally activated a new theme. I would like to restore the previous theme that I had been using which was called ‘Forever.’ I discovered that the theme is now retired. Can you please restore it or tell me how?
Thank you so much for your time and help!
Best,

Hi!
I discovered that the theme is now retired. Can you please restore it or tell me how?
As you used this theme on your site before it was retired, it is possible to restore it.
The Forever theme is retired so it can only be restored from the old WP Admin Dashboard. You can access Themes in using that dashboard here:
https://mobtownflorals.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php
Once there, you can search for Forever at the top of the page and activate it again.
One thing I want to mention is that the Forever theme has been retired and is no longer being supported, so no new updates will be released. This means it could break in the future. For this reason I’d encourage switching to an active theme.
Toujours would be a good alternative as it’s the modern update of Forever. It’s responsive which means it will scale to fit different devices, making your site easier to use for your visitors. There is more information about this theme here:

Come back to me if you have any questions :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! The search option worked!
The home page still appears differently – there are two columns, a categories list is showing up. I may have mistakenly altered some of the original settings when I was trying to “fix” things. But I don’t know for sure what I might have changed to cause that view to appear on the home page.
I launched this site back in 2013 and now have to re-learn everything. (I knew very little about managing websites then and that’s still the case.) I know that I need to do a complete overhaul. It’s LONG overdue so that’s why I was looking into other theme options…when I wrongly hit the activate button on another theme. :/
The free themes don’t quite meet the look that I’m envisioning for updating my site, but I’m hesitant to purchase an upgraded theme since I’m a complete amateur at configuring the details. Do you have any recommendations regarding the best way for me to move forward or can you refer me to a contact that could offer assistance? I’m likely going to hire designer but I’ve only just begun to research web companies.
Thank you again! I appreciate all your help!

Hi!
Good to hear you got the theme activated again.
The home page still appears differently – there are two columns, a categories list is showing up.
If you want to remove the sidebar with the categories on your Home page, you can do the following.
- Go to the page editor
- Click Page Attributes on the left
- Select the following page template: Full Width, No Sidebar.
I launched this site back in 2013 and now have to re-learn everything.
There is lots of great WordPress.com documentation to help you get started. Have a look at WordPress.com Learn. It gives you an overview of things to consider and do when setting up your site:
And if you need help with something specific I can point you in the right direction.

You mentioned you are likely going to hire a designer — we aren’t able to offer specific designer recommendations but we provide a number of ways to get help. All the options are covered here:
And you’re always welcome to post here on the forums :) If you tag your post ‘modlook’ using the Tags box on the right, a member of staff will respond.
Hope that helps!
