accidental duplication
-
Some time ago, I tried to connect my account with my gmail address, but WordPress created a new account tied to my email instead. I need them to delete the new account so I can tie my email to my blog. How can I get them to do it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You can delete the other account yourself by logging into that account and then going to the Account Settings page:
https://wordpress.com/me/account/
However, note that won’t immediately free up the Gmail address, but it will only become available a few weeks later once the account’s data is completely deleted.
If you want to use the Gmail address immediately I’d rather suggest the following:
Log into the account using that address, and change it to an alias. For example, if your address is example[at]gmail.com, change it to example+otheraccount[at]gmail.com. From Gmail’s point of view it’s still the same email, so you’ll receive the email to verify this change, but our system sees it as a different address, so making that change will free up example[at]gmail.com immediately so you can use it with this account instead.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.
