accidentally approved pingback but cannot delte it

  Hello,

  I posted a link to my wordpress on reddit. Apparently, that specific subreddit automatically puts any wordpress links on a dedicated wordpress. I initially approved the pingback but then marked it as spam and trashed it because the subreddit was abusive.

  However, I still see a link to my post on their website – is there any way to have it removed?

  A pingback is essentially like an automatic comment created at the time of posting. You would need to ask them to remove it for you. Good luck!

  If they don’t offer a way to contact them, there’s nothing else you can do.

  Any site on the web can link to any other site on the web – this is by design, and there’s no rule or law that says you can’t do it, so a link like that is also not content that we or any other hosting provider would remove as a terms of service violation.

  I know it’s not pleasant having links to your site appear on a site you object to – I’ve had that happen myself – but if you choose to run a public website that is just something that’s going to happen from time to time.

  And just to be clear, whether or not you approved the pingback doesn’t matter here. Approving or deleting the pingback only controls whether your site displays a link back to the site where the link was shared, but doesn’t have any effect at all on the link that was added to the other site.

  Got it, thank you both so much! I got irked for no reason because I thought it occurred in bad faith, but so it goes..
