and now I have lost all my CSS, links etc… Is there some way to get it back? I found the pilcrow again but the colors are wrong and all the various CSS setting have disappeared. Is there someway to get it all back?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Let’s see what the relevant support docs says.

If I switch themes, will my fonts and CSS carry over to the new theme?
Fonts will carry over, but CSS will not. CSS is theme-specific and CSS written for one theme will most likely not make sense to use with another theme. You can always access CSS you saved in the past via the CSS Revisions link at the top right of the Customize → CSS panel. https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.

After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install them where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.

Note that every theme will have a detailed theme description page with set up instructions and a live demo site page that you can consult. Here’s an example:

Timethief, thank you. Have everything almost back to normal….still having trouble dragging the widgets to the secondary sidebar. The inactive widgets are at the very bottom left and the sidebar at the very top right….is there a way to do this?

Make sure you are running a browser ad version of it found here http://browsehappy.com or upgrade. Then deal with each inactive widget re-installation one at a time.

I have them back now….many thanks. What caused this was my thinking that I could work on a blog for a friend but as soon as I chose one it automatically moved mine there. Is it not possible to work on another blog?
