Accidentally Deleted Comment

  I saw a comment in my spam folder. It was really long and blocky, and I sort of assumed it was really spam. As I moved to delete it permanently, I caught a glimpse of what it actually says. It did not sound like spam based on the first 5-6 words. Unfortunately, my hand was too quick to react, and I clicked the delete button.

  Is there anyway I can get it back?

  Nope, it’s gone for good now. That’ll teach people not to make spammy-sounding comments!

  That’s unfortunate.

  Another related question. If that person were to post another comment with same IP and email, would it go in the spam folder or would it be automatically blocked?

  It would tend to go in the spam folder, but Akismet’s not quite as black and white as that.

  This is a long shot. This happened to me once but luckily I found the original email in my email program trashbin and I was able to reconstruct the comment by using the information in the email. If you gave deleted the email as well as the comment you may not have deleted the email from your email trash bin.

  Unfortunately, the comment was deleted straight from the spam folder and was never approved. Therefore, no email sent out.

  Well, I do hope that the comment was in actuality really a spam comment. It’s the uncertainty and the possibility that I deleted a legitimate opinion that drives me nuts.
