Accidentally deleted functions.php content

I don’t know how it happened. I wanted to add a function in where users would have to login to be able to shop on the woocommerce storefront, it was throwing compiler errors so I deleted the code I added and nothing else. I then left the page, and next thing I know the whole site is broken. I read that I should try reinstalling Divi (the theme), and since it looked like the css was still saved for the website I thought that might fix it. But after uninstalling it, I’m finding that I can’t find Divi anywhere on the theme shop. I just need my website restored or something. Please help, otherwise I might just be completely screwed out of hundreds of hours of work…

Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com but instead a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.

We cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. But, I can get you pointed in the right direction.

If you have a recent backup of your site – either from a backup plugin or service – restoring that should be the quickest way to fix this. If you don’t have a backup service, you could try checking with your hosting provider in the hopes they might have a recent backup.

If not, it’s not quite clear where or how you were modifying your site – in WooCommerce, in Divi, or somewhere else – so I would advise you reach out to the WordPress community for guidance and they may have some ideas on where you can get started in finding and fixing the issue.

Or, if you’re confident that it’s Divi, you should be able to submit a new support request with them here.

Once you get things up and running again, I highly recommend you get a backup service in place so you can restore your site should it ever happen again. Here’s a great article on the WooCommerce website on how to backup and restore your site. This won’t work in your instance because you need a backup of your site before the problem happened, but this will help in the future.
