  I just chose another theme. This doesn’t look like something that users can fix.

  When a theme is retired all users who currently have it activated can keep on using it (usually) but it can’t be selected by anyone else. When you switched to another theme you lost the option to switch back.

  It’s unfortunate but this usually happens when the original theme author stops actively developing the theme and certain bits of it end up difficult to update with new WordPress features that have been introduce in the meantime.

  Hopefully you’ll find a new theme which not only looks good but gives you access to all the newest features as well.
