account access
-
Hello! I am trying to help my mom to update her website created on WordPress. She has lost access to it because the emails seem to be going to her now deceased webmaster. She tried creating a new login (Goofy9611) but that just created a new identity with no connection to her website and paid account. Her original account username was beatrix with password [redacted by staff] but that doesn’t work anymore. Is there a way for you to send her a password change email to (email visible only to moderators and staff)? PLease let me know how I can assist to make this work. Thank you!

NEVER post sensitive information such as passwords on a public forum! I tagged this to get help from a Staff member to remove this information.
As you have a paid (wordpress.com?) account, you can use the transaction ID to restore to your other wordpress.com account at https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/ -
Hi there!
As @staartmees mentioned above, the best way to regain access to the account is to fill the form on the Account Recovery page (linked above).
Also, please ask your mom to change her password anywhere she used the one you shared. Remember to never share your password with anyone; our support team will never ask you for it.

Thank you for your responses @staartmees and staff-mckluskey! I think I confused wordpress.com and wordpress.org so looking into it now.

If the website was created using the open source WordPress.org software, you’ll need access to the hosting account to regain access to the site, so it will be best to reach out to the hosting provider directly in that case.
If you’re not sure who the hosting provider is, please share the URL of the site, and we can help you figure that out :)
