Account and blog deleted without my permission
-
Hi,
I tried accessing my other account (evapage / plumedepan.wordpress.com) a few days ago and I was told it no longer existed…! My account and blog were deleted and I’ve had nothing to do with it. I never asked for my account to be deleted, and I was not notified of the erasure.
This blog hosted my writings, and as I wrote many of them directly on the blog I don’t have any copy. As you can guess, I am gutted.
I went to the recovery page but I cannot provide the proof needed: I created my blog and account about 6 years ago so of course I didn’t keep the confirmation url! I never purchased anything and I don’t have a two-step idenfication proof…
Honestly, I am desperate. This blog and especially the texts it hosted meant the world to me. Is there any way to retrieve it without those proofs? I would be willing to send my ID card or even name all the articles present on that blog! Any help would be very precious to me.
Thanks for your time.

Hi,
Are you sure that plumedepan.wordpress.com is the correct URL? It was created 15 years ago and the content was deleted by the owner 8 years ago. That does not fit with your having made a WordPress.com account 6 years ago.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I’m sure, I’m quite surprised at what you found out. My account (username : evapage) was also deleted… I guess that’s what caused my blog to be deleted, but then again I never did anything to delete my account. When I try to log in, I’m being told was account was closed.

The only way an account can be deleted is from with in that actual account. It wouldn’t be possible for anyone else to delete the account for you unless they had access to it.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, and sorry about the lateness of mine.
I originally created this account to write on another shared blog: would it be possible for the admin of that blog to erase an account that’s not theirs, if they deleted said blog for instance…? I don’t think it would be technically possible but honestly, I can’t think of anything else. Unless my account was hacked… I really don’t understand what happened there.

Hello there,
would it be possible for the admin of that blog to erase an account that’s not theirs, if they deleted said blog for instance…?
No, an admin can not do this, only the site owner.
Just to double check, what is the URL of the site you’re looking to access?

That’s what I thought…!
I am trying to access plumedeplan.wordpress.com
According to staff-ozmodiar, the site that appears was deleted 8 years ago… However the line “l’écriture dans tous ses états” was definitely the one I put on my blog…
Thanks to everyone who’s replied so far, I truly appreciate it!

Hi, thanks for your answer.
This is crazy. That was definitely my address, and Evapage was my pseudo. I’m 100% positive about that. I definitely get a page when I type the address now, with the title of my blog and its subtitle but the layout is off and no article is available (the screenshot is available here: https://i.postimg.cc/y85KnyCF/Blog.png).
However, I never paid for that website, if that’s what you mean…? I definitely created that blog and that account, though. And again, I don’t understand how was account was also deleted… I’m at a loss for words, I really don’t get what’s going on here.

I think you meant https://plumedepan.wordpress.com/ which has no content. The account https://wordpress.com/forums/users/evanpage/ hasn’t been deleted.
https://evanpage.wordpress.com/ has virtually no content.
Staff don’t ever delete content on free sites no matter how long they are left unattended. -
I’m sorry, but the account is evapage*, not evanpage. I replaced “evanpage” with “evapage” in the address you provided, and it shows no content, meaning that my account was indeed deleted I guess.
I figured staff wouldn’t delete my blog like that, but I didn’t either, so then again, I don’t understand what happened… Bottom line is, I lost all my content. I will never be able to rewrite the texts I lost.
Thanks for your time. Next time I’ll use a backup but I had no idea that option existed before.

Hi there,
Potentially good news. So, your account was not deleted. It appears a year ago that the username for the account was changed from
evapagetoegrierson. When you change usernames, the old username is automatically deleted and you won’t be able to access it again, Do you happen to remember that? Also, is https://plumedepanblog.wordpress.com/ the site you were looking for? If so, it is up and active under the
egriersonaccount. If you remember the login credentials, you should be able to access both that account and the site, as neither are deleted.Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Oh my, I can’t believe it! It worked!! Thank you SO MUCH!!
I didn’t remember changing my username at all, and when I was told my original account had been deleted… I just focused on that aspect. I was able to retrieve the password and I can access my account and blog again!
I honestly thought it was lost for good, thanks A LOT for your precious help :) I’m glad I used this forum instead of brooding about this on my own. And thanks to every person who replied!
