Account and Password Confusion
-
I log into my WordPress website daily but my password is automatically saved and has been for years.
I am having some work done in which the company requires my password to make changes to my website.
When I go to change it by username it says a password reset is being sent to my email but I don’t receive anything. Also when I use my email to request a password to see which email its being sent to it says the email doesn’t exist and isn’t connected to anything.
I have had to make this seperate account just so I can contact support. Surely I have an account if I have a WordPress site? Im not sure what has happened.

Hi, could you send a link to the site you’re trying to access?
If the site is hosted here on our servers this may help:
Or, for your own copy of WordPress with a different host, ask your host for help with this:

Hi there,
Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, so we cannot help with this. The “WordPress” you log into is the admin account for your site. That account is unique to your site only, and its password is stored in your site’s database on your hosting provider’s servers. We don’t have any access there to help you reset it.
You can see the password reset instructions for your version of WordPress at https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/
For more help with this, please ask the WordPress.org community for advice at https://wordpress.org/support/forums, or contact your hosting provider instead.
