Account closure

    Hi, I never use Word Press, don’t blog, have my own company website with its own domain name, etc, and keep receiving ‘Moderate comments’ messages that come from WordPress.
    They look like phishing or spam. What happens if I close this unused account in WordPress? Not much I guess

    Hi there,

    Closing your account will result in the deletion of all site/s as well as the removal of any Gravatar account under your WordPress.com account. As much as, you’ll get your intended outcome of not receiving messages from those sites, you’ll also not be able to reuse that site address and username in the future.

    If it’s just the messages you don’t want, you could consider turning off comments on your blog; in your account go to My Sites -> Manage -> Settings -> Discussion, toggle off this option “Allow people to post comments on new articles.”
