  Hi,

  I wanted to close my account beacuse i didnt think the name through properly. Is it possible to use the same email again after the stated duration and start afresh?

  If your account is in WordPress.com you can change both your account username (the name you use to login) and your display name (the name that is seen on your posts and comments). Please fellow the help instruction from this link: https://wordpress.com/support/change-your-username/

  Is this what you were trying to do?

  Is it possible to use the same email again after the stated duration and start afresh?
  When you delete your account all data associated with it are removed during a closure, the username is blocked from being registered again, in order to prevent impersonation. Please see for details from the help documentation: https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/

  @calligraphydoodleart, @obt28 – the username will be blocked, but you can still use the same email address. You will need to wait 30 days until the account is purged though.

  I would strongly suggest to remove any unwanted sites or change the username, rather than closing the account to open it again with a different name.
