  Hi Dermot,

  Only someone logged into a WordPress.com account can close it. For security reasons we cannot do this on your behalf.

  The reason you’re unable to close your account is because you have a site that used to be on our Business Plan, that was not properly downgraded back to the free plan. Once we downgrade it, you’ll be able to close your account.

  This process involves reverting your site back to how it was before it was using any plugins, and will cause any content added since then to be lost. This process cannot be reversed, so I’ll need your confirmation before I can do that.
