Account Closure
-
I have an old account on WP that I set up in 2012. The email account I registered the account against no longer exists, and I cannot login to the account. I wish it to be closed as it hasn’t been used in several years and contains personal information about me on there.

We have some additional options for you at https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form

Unfortunately I do not have a transaction ID or an activation URL, they would have been in the inbox of the email account that no longer exists.
I don’t have a recovery email or SMS number either (partly because I didn’t add them at the time, and it wouldn’t have worked anyway as both email and number I would have added at the time no longer exist due to the length of time that’s passed).
I see on the link that you posted that if account recovery is unable to be achieved via these options, access cannot be granted to the account. Seeing as I don’t wish to access the account, just close it, is there a way you can do this yourselves? Failing that, can you set it to private, as laid out in the link you posted?

Can you let us know the account in question? We don’t close accounts without proving ownership, so the only option would be to make it private. But we don’t know what account you’re needing help with, so we need that first. :)
Thanks!
