Account confusion
-
Hello, I am having a rather complex issue I can’t figure out. Basically, I had a wordpress account already set up with one e-mail address. At later date, I had a company build a website for me using wordpress. When turning the account over to me, they sent me a username and password they generated on their end to use to log into the site, which I did. I am able to access the site through the wp-admin page for the site using the info they provided to me. My issue is that, when logging into my old wordpress account, somehow the new site has been associated to that account, as it now shows up in my list of sites. Under the ‘Users’ tab, the new account that was created for the new site shows up as a team member.
When trying to log into the wp-admin page for my site using my old account that somehow got linked to it, it says the e-mail isn’t recognized. Also, when trying to log into the wordpress.com main page with this new account that was associated with my new page, the username also isn’t recognized, and I can’t sign in there either.
My issue is that when setting up my new page, I was attempting to set up woocommerce payments, but it’s sending a verification text to what must be an old number, which must be associated with that old original wordpress account, and I cannot receive the text to continue setting up payment methods. I’ve been clicking around for ages and can’t figure anything out, or find out any way to solve the issue. Can anyone help? How did my old wordpress account somehow get affiliated with this new site?
Thanks!

Hi there,
It sounds like you need help with the WooCommerce plugin but have landed on the support forum for WordPress.com sites instead.
We don’t offer WooCommerce on WordPress.com (unless you are upgraded to our WordPress.com Business or eCommerce Plan) so we are not your best point of contact, but the good news is that help is available by contacting WooCommerce staff here:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce/#new-topic-0
It may be the case that your WooCommerce account is not associated with the correct email address but they are in the best position to help you sort that out.
Thanks!
