Account confusion
-
Hello,
I need some help. I have the website http://www.henriettahickling.com – for my flower business, hosted on WordPress. I couldn’t log in so I did a password re-set. But in doing this, I seem to have set up a whole new account with a new site. And I can’t find how to log into my floral website. It’s really strange and I am not sure how to sort it out. I really need to update my website!
thanks,

Hi Henrietta,
http://www.henriettahickling.com/ is not hosted with us on WordPress.com.
That site was built using the open source WordPress software, but you’re hosting it at https://www.ai.co.uk/.
That site has no connection at all to WordPress.com, and you don’t access it by logging into a WordPress.com username account, but instead you want to use the admin credentials that were created for that site when you first installed WordPress at your hosting provider.
If you don’t have those credentials any more, please contact your hosting provider directly for help regaining access to your site. You can also find the documentation for this for your version of WordPress here:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/
The
henriettahicklingaccount you used to post here has existing on WordPress.com since 2017, but this account doesn’t own any sites with us, and appears to have been inactive until about three weeks ago. -
Hello,
Thanks for getting back to me. I have done some further investigation and my site domain is hosted on LCN. I am able to log in there so that’s fine.
When I built the site years ago (this one http://www.henriettahickling.com/) I used WordPress tools and there was a dashboard I used to manage the pages. That is what I need to log into and cannot. I think it is because I somehow accidentally did a password reset last week and have pressed something I didn’t mean to, and now I can’t get into the dashboard to make any edits.
I definitely built it using WordPress and was previously logged into some kind of tool for editing, which I now can’t get into or can’t locate the correct dashboard that allows editing for my site. How do I get my website back into the wordpress tool so I can edit?
I have already tried putting ‘admin’ after the URL. I think that is how I used to log in.Or, another way to investigate would be to look at my email address and see if there are two accounts associated with it or if you can recover some of my activity history and see what I did wrong.
thanks,

Hi there,
How do I get my website back into the wordpress tool so I can edit?
Here is the login link for your site:
As @kokkieh mentioned, the site http://www.henriettahickling.com/ is a a self-hosted, WordPress (also called “.org”) site.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two, different entities, but the essential difference is that we don’t have access to all WordPress sites, only ones hosted on our WordPress.com servers. For more information, please see:
However, if you have access to the server control panel through your web host, it is always possible to regain access to a self-hosted, WordPress site. This WordPress.org Codex article will walk you through the steps:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
Contacting your web host would be the best bet in regaining access to your site and the tools that you need to edit you site.
Thanks,
