Hi there, was this a WordPress.com account? Generally when an account on WordPress.com is deleted, then the site associated with it is also deleted. However, sites with active purchases cannot generally be deleted, meaning that their associated accounts also cannot be deleted. You can find more information about account closure here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/close-account/If you would like to re-open a closed WordPress.com account (which is different to the acount you’re currently posting from, with username
patamundson4), then please reply to the automated email you would have received when closing your WordPress.com account. -
The account was linked to email RedeemerLutheranIola.com, and we received the automated email confirming cancellation – back in July. The site is still up – https://redeemeriola.wordpress.com/
We can no longer get into the account, yet the site lingers on. ?

I’m sorry – the correct email for the account was (email visible only to moderators and staff)

Hi there,
Are you sure you have the correct site? I was able to look up RedeemerLutheranIola.com but it does not seem to be hosted on WordPress. According to a search of the public WHOIS records for the domain, it appears that this site is hosted with Wix.

The site is still up – https://redeemeriola.wordpress.com/
From what I can see the site at that address has not been used in a few years. I see no new blog posts after 2018. If I had to guess, the site started here on WordPress.com originally then was moved to Wix, but we do not have activity on our end to confirm this.
Hope this helps!

the WordPress site we need to delete is what you listed: https://redeemeriola.wordpress.com/, for which the church email is (email visible only to moderators and staff). It’s true that no posts have gone up since 2018 on the wordpress site. That’s exactly why we need to delete it.
We started a brand new site on Wix with the URL https://redeemerlutheraniola.com. It has the same related church email, of course: (email visible only to moderators and staff). This was not moved from wordpress, but is rather a brand new site for the church. We need to delete the wordpress site entirely. People are not able to find our church’s new site on a search because the church’s old, inactive wordpress site keeps coming up instead. All people can see is the outdated site.
What activity confirmation do you need on your end to delete the site https://redeemeriola.wordpress.com/? We have the automated confirmation email to (email visible only to moderators and staff) from WordPress stating that the church’s account was deleted (and so should have the website been deleted). I also have the documentation that the church created, purchased and have the new and unique site https://redeemerlutheraniola.com hosted through wix. Please let me know what we can provide to get the wordpress site deleted.
I hope this makes sense. Thank you so much for your responsiveness.

Howdy,
The issue is that the WordPress.com user account you are posting from is not the owner or admin of the site you are trying to delete. This typically happens when someone ended up with a second WordPress.com user account and that second account is the one that owns the site. You’ll need to log into THAT user account in order to make any changes.
If you do not have access to that second account, here are a few options:
Account recovery overview – https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/
Lost password tool – https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Account recovery form – https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recoveryFor security reasons, I’m sure you can understand why we cannot delete sites without the express permission of the listed owner of that site. Otherwise anyone could write in and request deletion of literally any site on WordPress.com.
Let us know if anything is unclear or you have any further questions.

We will be back in touch when we get further info from the pastor who originally set up the site may have record of. We were able to log in using that info to start with. Stay tuned, and we’ll be in touch with either “hurrah!” or “more help, please.” We appreciate your assistance.
