  Need to delete this account so I can in a month use the email on my established account but you’re not letting me delete

  Hi there,

  Please share your site’s address.

  If your site is on WordPress.com and if its an upgraded site, then you will have to cancel your subscription by following below link:
  https://wordpress.com/support/manage-purchases/#removing-purchases

  and to close the account, you can do so by following the below link:
  https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/

  Please note, this is a permanent action and you won’t be able to use the same username in the future.

  Also, please note that this forum is for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org then check the below link :

  I have two WordPress.com accounts by accident. One has nothing on it – no site, no commerce, nothing. The other I’ve had for 16 years. I want to use the email address associated with the accidental account with the original account now since I’m dumping Yahoo mail.

  I followed directions to close my account and got a pop up that said:
  “Sorry, there was a problem closing your Account. Please contact support.”

  How do I do that? Everything keeps sending me back to the forums.

  Hi Anne –

  It looks like an Akismet (spam plugin) subscription that is preventing you from being able to delete the account.

  Go to https://akismet.com/support/ and look on the right hand side of the page. Under What can we help you with? click on I need to cancel my subscription and follow those instructions.

  Thank you! This is it. I had no idea Akismet was associated with that account but that solved the problem. Thank you so much!
