I recently tried logging into an account I had for years and I couldn’t, it said my password was wrong. I tried to get them to send me a new password to the email I used to sign up with, but I didn’t receive any email. I also tried logging in with that email to wordpress.com, but it said that the account with that email did not exist. At this point I knew for sure that it was hacked. I did not change the email address, I did not change the password, and the blog associated with the account still exists http://www.jubileejk.wordpress.com but it has been set to private. I really need a representative from wordpress to help me get my account back, it is very precious to me.

I tried using the account recovery tool, but I don’t have any activation code or activation URL from when I signed up(it was more than 8 years ago, the email containing those was probably deleted ). I really need help on this. I have blog posts on that blog from a very important time in my life and I need to get it back. If any staff members or moderators need any info from me to help me to get my account back I can give it to them. I can even remember the password I used to create the account to prove it’s me.

Exactly which username account registered the underlying .wordpress.com site and purchased the upgrade for it?

How many Admins do you have? Only one is recommended.

You must complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff, and provide proof ownership, so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums, which are available to everyone with internet access.

Support Staff cannot breach the privacy policy and provide the log-in information. You have to provide proof ownership to Account Recovery Staff to gain access to the site https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

    re: hacked accounts and blogs

If anyone is posting anything to your blog or removing anything from it, or changing anything in it, or if your blog has been deleted and you did not delete it, then it’s most likely that you have provided them with the ability to do so, either deliberately by adding them as official users, or by allowing them access to your login information, or by posting content that makes it easy for them to guess what your log-in information is.

For you the question that needs to be answered is: Who, aside from me, has access to my login information?

Go to your email program immediately and change the password to a very difficult one because that’s how many hackers gain access to blogs.

    Read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/

Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
You can also reset your password via your Settings tab on the WordPress.com home page:
    http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/

Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.

    Use two step authentication http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/

Run a security scan on your computer. See here to run a security scan http://geekflare.com/online-scan-website-security-vulnerabilities/

Never leave your computer logged into your blog and walk away from it. Always log out properly.

I was wondering if it was possible to restore the posts that were deleted. They deleted 1 years worth of posts.

The answer to that is no Staff will restore content. You may be able to use Googles cached docs to copy paste content into new posts and pages. You may be able to use Internet Archives Wayback Machine to do the same.

P.S. Staff have records of who did what under which username and login information and when they did it. This thread with modlook for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it. Note that there is a backlog and be patient while waiting.

Yeah I’m sorry, but your reply didn’t help. And saying that someone only has access to your account if you’ve given them your username and password is just plain wrong. Tons of accounts from all websites get hacked everyday. I need to get in touch with a moderator or a customer service representative to help me.

@jubileejk95 what email address are you checking for that other account? If you’ll type it normally here, it will automatically redact so only staff can see it.

Also, this site has been private for some time, for what it’s worth.

Hi supernovia, the email address I used to create that account is (email visible only to moderators and staff) It has since been changed by the hackers, that I am quite sure. And with regards to the blog being set to private I might have done that awhile ago last I logged in. Sorry for the late reply, I really need your help with this.

    Hi there,

Email addresses do not include http://www. That’s something that only occurs in website URLs, not emails.

Searching the email address you posted without that in front of it returns no results – there is no account on WordPress.com associated with that email address.

If you don’t have access to the correct email address for the account that owns https://jubileejk.wordpress.com/, and you don’t have any of the other verification info required by the account recovery form, we won’t be able to help you regain access. We do not make any exceptions in this regard.

Hi Kokkieh, I am very sure the hackers changed my email address upon gaining access to my account. Other accounts(from other websites) of mine have been hacked before, and that is what they usually do. Please help. The username for that account is/was y08hci0299. I hope that has not been changed.

I am not sure if it is possible, but could you guys resend the activation url? I created the blog 8-9 years ago, and I honestly can’t find the email.

The email address on that account has never been changed in the eight years since the account was created, and there has been no other recent changes on that account. There is no evidence at all that this account has been hacked – there hasn’t been any activity on this account for over two years.

We cannot resend the activation URL, no, and even if we could we could only send it to the email address with which the account was originally created.

If you’re unable to provide the verification info, and don’t have access to the correct email, there is nothing more we can do.

Hi Kokkieh, I think I have managed to find what I think is the activation URL. It was saved by my computer. I have sent in an account recovery form. I hesitate to post the activation URL here on an open forum.

    Hi jubileejk95,

I hesitate to post the activation URL here on an open forum.

It’s best not to post any personal or account information on these forums as they are a public place. We provide the Account Recovery form so you can share that information privately :)

You asked about the account email address but I’m unable to disclose any personal information for security reasons.

Thanks for filling out the Account Recovery form. We’ll reply to the email address you specified there as soon as we can.
