Account hacked and contact details changed

  I have had to create a new account to write this. My blog, http://blood1000.wordpress.com has been hacked. The email address and password has been changed and I no longer have access to it.

  How may I regain access to my blog?

  Also, why wasn’t a confirmation email sent to the address I was registered with when these changes were instigated?

  Any help will be appreciated.

  There are usually two emails associated with a blog: the one under Settings->General and the one under Profile. But if someone is signed in as you, they can make whatever changes they want and the only time you get a confirmation email you have to agree with is when they delete the site.

  Someone has already flagged this thread for staff attention. In the meantime I caution you to change your email password, because the only cases I know of where a site has been actually hacked it has been via Post By Email. All other cases were simple password guessing.

  Luckily my email password is completely different to my passwords for other sites.

  My PW was 12 chars long. So that’s some guessing.

  Well, if you’re just having trouble signing in, but nothing seems to have happened to the blog, then it may not have been hacked. LOTS of people are reporting sign-in problems this past couple of weeks.

  No – the blog has been hacked. Every post has had some crap appended to it. I tried to log in today, and my password was not recognised. I used the Forgot password link and entered my email address and that was not recognised, either.

  When you say “some crap” do you mean junk code? Because THAT isn’t a hack; it’s a bug that’s already been reported. Has something to do with the new ad platform WP.com is introducing.

  Earlier today there was an animated gif which presumablt linked to a vid or page at the end of each of my posts describing something about business dealings and how you would be shocked at the details.

  Now they are no longer there.

  I am not making this up.

  However, I would love to know what the procedure is for getting this fixed. Will a WordPress.com staff member contact me using my original account details? Presumably, because the content has been removed, WordPress are in the process of cleaning this up?
