  I had one account, wmodes ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) linked via JetPack to most of my self-hosted sites, but wanted to divide that up between two WP accounts. But when I changed the name of the above account to free up the account name ‘wmodes’ it was no longer available. The two accounts are:

  Current Login Desired Login Email
  peoplesriverhistory peoplesriverhistory (email visible only to moderators and staff)
  wesmodes wmodes (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  Any suggestions for making the ‘wmodes’ account name available? Thanks for your help.

  Hi there,

  I can confirm that you have “renamed” your account from @wmodes to @peoplesriverhistory

  However, because of this action, the old username is no longer available to use. https://wordpress.com/support/change-your-username/

  Important: You will not be able to change your username back. The old name will be reserved and no one will have access to it.

  You are welcome to use a different name in setting up your second account (and can set the “public display name” to ‘wmodes’) but the username itself must be unique and not one that has been used in the past.
