  Greetings,

  I do not want to close my account permanently but would like to make it publicly inaccessible for 6 months or so. Is this possible?

  Hi there, accounts cannot be put on hold, but you can change your site’s visibility from Public to Private.

  This guide will explain how you can do that and what happens as a result: https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
