Account mixups

I’m a member at Gimletmedia.com. Trying to sign into that website this morning, and getting the message: ‘We found an existing WordPress user account with your email address. Please sign in so we can sync the accounts.’ My WP account is actually (email visible only to moderators and staff), but it won’t accept that login whether I use my email or Username to log in. In the event that I might actually have a password under (email visible only to moderators and staff), which is also an email address that I control, I tried password reset but then I get the message, ‘Password reset is not allowed for this user’. When I try signing out of my WP account and initiating the forgot password protocol for that email address from the primary WP login, I get the message that there is no WP user with that email. HELP!!!!!!

(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
