Account on WordPress.com

    Hi,
I have my website for around three years prior creating my personal account on wordpress.com. Since then Jetpack stop working on my website. I’m going to delete this account in order to get Jetpack functioning again. How do I delete this wordpress.com account?

  • Before deleting your WordPress.com account, I suggest asking for help at the jetpack support site and corresponding forums.

This is wordpress.com support where we do not provide support for any sites that are not hosted here. We do not provide wordpress.ORG software support or Jetpack support.

Note that Jetpack is a plugin used by WordPress.ORG bloggers to achieve parity with what we already have built into WordPress.COM blogs. A wordpress.COM account is required to run the Jetpack plugin, but we do not provide Jetpack support on these wordpress.COM support forums. Please direct Jetpack issues to where they can get Jetpack support.

    re: Jetpack support
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.me/support/

Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
    http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack

However, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
    Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

I don’t think so, timethief. As I wrote on the very firts post I have my website for around three years prior creating my personal account on wordpress.com

  • Hi @jayreiss,

@Timethief is correct – you need a WordPress.com account to use JetPack (but you don’t need a blog which may be the cause of the confusion – you don’t have a WordPress.com blog). You’re using that very account (jayreiss) to contact us here in the forums. From what I see, you created a personal WordPress.com account three years ago.

There is currently no WordPress.org site connected via JetPack to the account. From the error you reported last time you contacted us, we determined the issue is something that your hosting provider would need to take a look at:

Ok, that’s a problem with the Varnish cache, it can’t communicate with Apache (or Nginx if you’re using that instead).

I recommend reporting that to your hosting provider.

Regarding deleting your account, since we don’t want other people to have your username in the future, we don’t delete usernames (they are kept so they cannot be recycled). For more information, please see this link below:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

Here’s a few suggestions for you if you’d like to scrub the account:

    1) Empty and delete your sites:

First of all, be sure to empty your sites of all content. You can find out more about how to do this here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/

Next, delete the site following the guide on this page:

    Delete a Website

Please be aware that this is irreversible!

    2) If you are trying to unsubscribe from emails sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block Emails”:

    https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/

    3) You can also go here to remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This will only leave the username behind:

    https://wordpress.com/me/account/
    https://wordpress.com/me/profile

    4) To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:

    http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html

    5) While you cannot completely delete your Gravatar profile, you can remove all of your profile information easily through the “Edit My Profile” page here:

    http://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit/?noclose#about-you

You can also hide your Gravatar profile from external access. Visit your profile page (click your name in the top navigation of the website), then click the “Hide My Profile” link in the bottom, right-hand corner.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks!

    Hey staff-doublebassd,
Thank you very much for your attention. Listen, about a wordpress.com account I can assure you I’ve created it just a few months ago.
When a webdesigner buid up my website I had no idea about wordpress.
Yes, you’re right about my contact with Jetpack support. They told me about the Varnish cache ( which by the way I have no clue what’s this). But I can assure you too, this happened after I’ve created my wordpress.com account. It could be a concidence?
I got the point about deleting my wordpress account and I’ll keep my account. I want my website up and running.

  • Hey there,

Do you happen to have a WordPress.com account other than the one you are contacting us from (jayreiss)? Because jayreiss was created on 09/03/2013.

There may be two different accounts which may clear up some confusion.

    Let me know. Thanks!

Really? Wow that’s new to me.
Thanks. Do you know how or where do I get the info about it?

  • No, but a few things may help me.

What is the domain name to the self-hosted site that you were having JetPack connection issues? I can check and see if I can find anything on our end that connects that domain to the proper account.

Also, each WordPress.com account has a different e-mail associated with it. So, if you have multiple e-mails, it may be possible that you created a different account with another e-mail of yours. I’d try to log in using another common e-mail and see if anything sticks.

Let me know if you have any luck or if you have that domain name I can look into.

    Thanks!

    Thank you, darnelldibbles!

    The domain is : http://www.reeduca.com.br

You know, I’ve checked my other email but I didn’ find it. And what is weird is the webmaster only knew about the email actually registered now. That’s odd because when I’ve created the account a few months ago it appear to me as if I was creating a fresh new one.

    Thank you for your attention!

  • Hmm…I couldn’t find anything from my end.

Well, if you can try to install JetPack while logged into the account you are contacting us from, let me know if you still encounter any errors.

    Thanks!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hey darnelldibbles,

I’ve just installed Jetpack while logged into my account here. After activate Jetpack I was asked to allow petpack connect with my wordpress.com account. In the next screen I have had the message:

    “Error 503 Backend fetch failed
    Guru Meditation:
    XID:84985664
    Vanish Cache Server

However when I entered again on wordpress dashboard it seems jetpack is functioning.

    What do you think?

  • Hey! It appears that it is working from what I see! Are you able to see you JetPack stats, etc.?

I see reeduca.com.br connected now whereas I did not see it initially. I think you’re good to go! However, let me know if you’re noticing any trouble.

    Thanks!
