  I am trying to edit our club website, but the person who was in charge of updating the website last year is not giving us the password and I’m not sure what email they linked the website too. I do have access to a general club email. Is there a way I can transfer ownership of the account and domain to the club email?

  Hi @modisrule, this is a self-hosted copy of WordPress through Hostgator. It’s quite different from a site that is on our servers.

  And since your site is not here on our servers, we don’t have access to help you regain access. But I may be able to point you in the right direction.

  First contact Hostgator to be sure you have backups and can access the hosting side of your site, then read all of these these instructions from WordPress.org to determine which method you want to use to regain access to your installation:
  http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

  As long as you can log into Hostgator you should be able to regain access. If you need more help, head to to the forums for self-hosted sites at https://wordpress.org/support
