Account recovery
-
I am a high-school teacher trying to use WordPress.com in my Computer Science class. I have a student who was not able to set up an account through his school email. Can you go in and clear his email or something so that he can start over creating a WordPress site? Thank you! I would love to talk to a person if I can.

Yep, we can see it. :)
This email address belongs to an account that was deleted 3 days ago.
Unfortunately, we only release email addresses on deleted accounts after 30 days and do not have a manual way to release them.
Can the student use a different email address or set up an email alias through your system?
-
Can you waive that in this case?
I don’t want to require him to use a private email account, and aliasing is something that no one in our school district will understand.
Can you guys ‘alias’ him at your end somehow?
-
We can’t on this end, but if you respond to the deletion confirmation email asking for the account to be un-deleted, they can change the address to an alias and confirm it, then delete it again.
-
My student has not received an email from you guys, so there is no email to reply to so that he can do what you say.
Where should he send the email that you are talking about?
Thank you-
-
I just realized the student’s email server is rejecting these emails. So we sent the confirmation of removal, but their server did not deliver it.
Are they able to use another address?
-
Yes students have been having trouble receiving your confirmations. I will talk with tech support on my end but expect no changes.
Yes the student could use another address but I don’t want to ask him to use private email for a school assignment.
It sounds like we are done here and he has to wait 30 days for the account to be cleared.
I am the teacher who asked him to do this using school email. Why don’t I have authority to ask you to delete it? You guys should be bending over backwards to help me teach this to kids.
