Account Recovery

I am stuck in a constant loop trying to recover and/or set up a new WordPress.com account.

I stopped using my blog site regularly for several years and just recently went back to it. I’d like to update my Gravatar but when I attempt to log into WordPress.com it tells me the account has been deleted. (I’m not sure when or by who.) I don’t have any of the account recovery information the site asks for, but when I attempt to create a new account with that username or email address (if it was deleted its certainly been longer than 30 days) it tells me that it’s already in use. Same goes for my website. I can’t attach it to another account because it’s “already in use.”

The loop happens because I’ve been able to create a new WordPress.com account with a default username and attach my same (apparently in use?) email address, but I can’t login with that email address. Honestly, I’m not sure if any of this is making sense. I’m just as confused as you probably are.

I’d just like to be able to create (I guess) a new WordPress.com account and attach it to my website (signedblake.com), update my gravatar etc. but I can’t seem to untangle this web of accounts. It’s been several weeks of me trying to troubleshoot and get some help and I kind of feel like I’m going a little insane. lol. Why is it this hard to troubleshoot an account???

Hi there can you share the account username so we can take a closer look? please note that account deletions are permanent and as a policy we do not recycle usernames upon deletion. If the account was deleted in the past we will not be able to recover that username for you, but we are happy to investigate and disassociate the email address (which should have been “freed up”) so that you can use it for a new profile.

    Thanks for the additional info!

The username is ‘signedblake’. At this point, the username seems to be associated with multiple accounts in my attempts to untangle it all.

    Hey there,

It is not possible to use the same username with multiple accounts. I was able to check the account, and we have dissociated the email address with this account. Is it possible the email may be associated with a different account?

Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you.
