Account Recovery form does not accept copypasted Activation URL
-
I am going a bit crazy trying to resolve the login problem described in the post linked below, so I tried the Account Recovery form.
The Activation email I received last week has a Confirm Now button, which I right-clicked on and selected the Copy URL function, then pasted it into the proper dropdown box on the Account Recovery form… which informed me that “The activation code does not appear to be valid”
Because this is a free account, I have no ‘paid’ proof of ownership, and the Account Recovery Form will not submit without at least one.
The site (www.cybisreference.wordpress.com) exists but I have absolutely no way to access it because the login page does not recognize my password for that username (though it does recognize the username!), AND also says that my associated email address (which the Activation Email was sent to last Thursday!) is one that WP has no record of.
So to sum up:
WP login recognizes the username but not the password.
WP login does not recognize the username’s associated email account.
Password Recovery does not recognize the activation URL that was sent in an email to the address that it now says isn’t associated with the username that it DOES recognize.Where do I go from here? *help*
Many thanks

UPDATE: Never mind, I ended up having to start from scratch by creating an entirely new separate account and giving up on this one. I guess the “stuck” one will be hanging in cyberspace forever. Can’t win ’em all.
