Account Recovery Form is not helping my case
-
I’m trying to recovery my WordPress.com account using the account recovery form but it’s not helping my case:
- I know my registered user / email address
- I have the password (and I can reset my password)
- After entering the password, I get “Enter the code from your authenticator app.” but I do not have MFA codes (but WordPress.com thinks I do, which leads me think that the account is compromised and a malicious actor set up MFA on their device)
- I do not have any websites on WordPress.com (at least any one I’m aware of)
- No transaction IDs
- I do have account activation link that goes back to 2018
Based on the above details, the account recovery form tells me to reset my password but it’s not helping.
I can share the email address in a private channel, thank you.

Hi there, Since you said you have the account activation link that should be enough proof of ownership in the account recovery form. Do not post it here.
Regardless, I’ve added a MODLOOK tag for Staff attention and assistance here.
If you write the relevant account email address normally in your reply, the forum software will redact it from public view, but staff will still be able to see it. For example, like this fake email address (email visible only to moderators and staff)
