Account Recovery – Form not effective

  • Unknown's avatar

I accidentally deleted the e-mail connected with my last WordPress site now I cannot access it. I never officially closed the account. I tried the recovery form but it did not work. It said the URL does not exist. I hope to retrieve some of my material immediately. I no longer need the purchased URL. Just the original WordPress account and content. Please help. Hoping the WordPress team can help me recover it.

I have the authorization code/merchant number from my bank statement. Paypal history no longer dates back to the transaction history so I cannot recover the transaction code either.

    Please help. Thank you.

  • Hi,

What’s the url of your site?

    Thanks

    Hi thehoopexperience,

Thanks for confirming the URL. We can only help recover the account with proof of ownership. If the email address is no longer in use, a transaction ID will be your best bet. You could try contacting PayPal to request the transaction ID for the payment to WordPress.com — it can then be submitted through the Account Recovery form (please do not post that information here).

I’ll be here if you have any questions.

Hi, I recovered the transaction ID number. I attempted the recovery form again but the notice showed up again saying URL does not exist.

However when I search the username on Google, it still says the site is reserved.

Have I lost my account? Or did it seem possible after checking the username?

Really hoping WordPress can help. Is it possible to contact one of the people in charge of recovering accounts?

  • Hi –

In the account recovery form there’s an option to list the transaction id. Did you try that already? Was there an error message?

We can’t really assist with account recovery in the forums, but will try to help you as much as we can.

If that form doesn’t work in a different web browser please let me know. Sometimes that will do the trick.

Yes there was an error message. All my input details are accurate.

Is there someone in WordPress who can directly assist me with this? I cannot find a direct email for support.

It says “Sorry but the website you gave does not exist on WordPress.com. Is it a self-hosted WordPress.org website?”

I believe it is not. I just got a .com from WordPress.

Ive tried both mobile and computer browser to the same outcome.

How can I contact direct customer support to assist me with this?

Hi there, both @gemmacevans and staff-zinnia are WordPress.com Staff. They or another Staff member will return to this thread when they become available.
