Account Recovery Help
-
I am trying to help someone who purchased a plan from wordpress.com. The person that first the account for them is no longer working for them and set the recovery email to theirs and if I try to reset the account he does not get an email. I have the last 4 digits of the credit card exp date and 3 digits on the back of the card. The user who I am helping do not have the 3 proof of ownership that is being requested because he only paid to have the account setup. How can I get this fixed?

We do need the proofs mentioned at https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form
I recommend searching through their email for the receipt sent when the plan was purchased.

That’s the problem. The guy who set up the site for my client got all those emails. Even if we try to reset the password he gets the link and keeps resetting it. Is there no way of using the credit card number to look this information up?

@pulidoae we can’t look it up with the card number, and it wouldn’t be a good idea to post that in a public forum anyway (or even to send it over email). But, you can regain access using a transaction ID as mentioned in the article staff-blorbo sent. Here’s that link:
Another option is to ask the current account owner (the guy who set it up) if he’s willing to transfer ownership to you. If he is, this will help him, and we’re happy to answer questions for him too:
