Account recovery mobile number – do we include the initial "0"
-
Usually when you specify a UK number in international format you drop the initial zero, so the fictitious number 01234 567890 would be written as +44 1274 567890. However the layout of the settings page shows two fields; Country and Mobile Phone Number. The “country” dropdown has values like “(+44) United Kingdom”.
It is not clear whether the phone number field should include the initial zero or not; and the validation allows either to be entered. There is also no facility to send a test message.
Should I include the initial zero in the phone number field?

Hi there – you do not need to add the 0.
We use Twilio for our SMS account-recovery system, and according to them:
A number such as 020 7183 8750 in the UK would be formatted as +44 20 7183 8750.
Just let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks, that’s what I thought. Perhaps it would be clearer if the page said “include the area code but omit the leading zero”, or that this was explained on the support page!
