Account recovery – no access to old phone number for two-factor authentication
-
Hello, I am at my wits’ end trying to contact a live human for support. I am trying to get access to my other account where I have kept years of blog entries since 2012. I had set up two-factor authentication using an old work phone number that I no longer have access to.
I am being taken through a loop of resetting the password, then still not being able to get in as I don’t have access to my old phone number. I also don’t have the backup codes as the authentication was set up in 2020 and I have since moved countries – there is no chance I’d be able to find where these were once printed.
I already tried using the form as I have the activation URL to prove my ownership, but it just automatically sends me a link to reset my password. And of course, this doesn’t work as it still asks me for the backup code.
Can someone PLEASE help me recovery my account? It would be heart-breaking to lose all those years of journal entries… the whole reason I kept them online was to prevent losing them!!

Unfortunately no one ever replied to me at any WordPress email of thread. I had to just pay to reactivate my old phone number for a month and get the code. Extremely disappointing but resolved anyway.
