Account recovery or something else
-
last night i wanted to test how easy it was to switch to squarespace from wordpress and when i clicked the button, it switched my domain over. I thought i was going to be able to confirm or something but i didn’t get that option. I have most of my site designed in squarespace but i didn’t get my blog posts transferred over. What happened to those pages, did they just vanish? Oh, for the life of me I cant seem to figure out my login info and have no records to prove to wordpress that I owned the account/site. What should I do in this situation?

You have to specifically export your Squarespace content and then use WordPress’s Import Feature.
From the Import help article:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/For SquareSpace imports, make sure you’ve made an xml export (and confirm the file has the .xml extension at the end), and use the WordPress importer from your Tools → Import screen.
Here’s the Squarespace article on how to export your site into an XML file:

Thanks but this only exports the current pages that I have, not the blog posts I lost when i went from WP to SS.

You know what? I completely misread your first sentence and thought you were moving FROM Squarespace TO WordPress. Sorry about that.
Your blog contents would only have vanished if you made the move to delete them. Are you sure you can’t see any posts in your All Posts wp-admin area?
https://miihsasd.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.phpIf they’re not there, did you perhaps write them on another WordPress site?
https://wordpress.com/sitesIf you still can’t find anything you should type ‘modlook’ into the Tags area on the right hand side of this thread to get Staff’s attention.

ok so what i did is go into godaddy in the domains section and turned on their backup as the primary account. This allowed me to go back to my old site, all links working and everything. I was then able to export only my blog posts (since I completely redesigned the rest of the site, new copy and everything). Hope this helps anyone who has the same problem as me!
