Account Recovery – stuck
-
Hi All,
I recently moved my domain from WP over to Shopify and so my WP domain admin no longer works. Trying to access the WP site to pull some content and then shut it down.
I tried the Account Recovery form but I do not have any of the three Proof of Ownership it is requesting. The site and WP account was set up by my web designer a few years back, but they are now out of business and have no record of proof of ownership.
Can’t find any help on WP support – no chat, no email, no phone.
How do I access a human being for support?
How do I escalate?Thanks.

How do I access a human being for support?
Everyone answering support questions is a human being.
If you have already contacted Account Recovery Staff https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery then you wait for them to reply to you. There is no means of escalating.
Can’t find any help on WP support – no chat, no email, no phone.
All support docs are at https://en.support.wordpress.com/
See: Getting WordPress.com Support https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/
There is no phone support. Those who have a paid upgrade for a wordpress.COM site can use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/
The best WordPress.COM contact form to use now for Staff assistance is:
http://wordpress.com/help/contactLive chat will be available there only if we have Happiness Engineers available to chat. When they are not available using that link results in posting to this peer support forum. https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/
re: direct email support
Also note, that you can email WordPress.COM Staff at:How do I escalate?
Support Staff do not deal with Account Recovery, Account Recovery Staff do that. Support Staff cannot breach the privacy policy and provide the log-in information. You have to provide proof ownership to Account Recovery Staff to gain access https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

Thanks Timethief. How do I get in touch with Account Recovery Staff if I do not have proof of ownership?

Thanks Timethief. How do I get in touch with Account Recovery Staff if I do not have proof of ownership?

Read https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/ and know that unless or until you submit the correct form https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery there is no way to contact Account Recovery Staff.

Proof of Ownership
To help recover your account, we require some information from you to verify your ownership of the account. Please note that we are unable to recover an account without proof of ownership.

thanks but you are sending me in circles that I have already been spiraling in for days.
I DONT HAVE ANY OF THE THREE PROOFS OF OWNERSHIP
-
Then I’m sorry to say that you cannot recover the account.
Think about this please.
If proof of ownership was not required then anyone could gain access to any site they wanted to by pretending it was theirs.
-
Surely I am not the first person to have this challenge. There must be other ways to show proof of ownership.
-
Not that I am aware. All it took to register an account here at WordPress.COM was a valid email address.

Hi there,
What is the URL of the site you are having trouble accessing?
Let me know and we’ll go from there. Thanks!
-
Hi Gemma,
Thanks for reaching out. The URL is freewaters.com. I am co-founder and VP of Marketing.
Best,
Eli -
Hi Eli,
Thanks for confirming the URL. freewaters.com is a self hosted WordPress.org site, not a WordPress.com site. The differences are explained here:
We are only able to help with account recovery for WordPress.com sites.
If you are unable to access the site you will need to contact your hosting provider. They should be able to help you out.
Best of luck getting this sorted out!

I can’t login to my account http://enriquezarte.org/en/what-is-enriquezarte/
I was installing a plugin for Google Analytics called Monster Insights. Then the website stopped working I can’t login now for nearly two weeks, nor can anybody access the website. The first thing we did was contact our internet server OVH to see was the problem them? But it wasn’t that so what do we do now??

Hi partyonregardless,
enriquezarte.org is a self hosted WordPress.org site, not a WordPress.com site. As I mentioned below, we are only able to help with WordPress.com sites on these forums. That site will have separate login details from the account you are logged in to.
If you are unable to access the site you will need to contact your hosting provider. They should be able to help you out.
