  I got emails for months saying that my website was going to expire and I did not want to renew it and I just received an email saying they changed my card and renewed the domain.

  Only emails send from @wordpress.com are genuine. All other emails are fake.
  You can type in the email address you got those emails from. The system obfuscate them and only Staff can see them.

  Actually sometimes the domain registrar will send emails about your domain expiring. Those can be valid if your domain hasn’t renewed yet. There’s no way to get rid of them short of cancelling it.

  Emails from WordPress.com will say WordPress.com on them, though. And they will go to the email address associated with the account that has upgrades.
