Account take over
-
Hello,
I had asked this question before and I was still unable to resolve my problem. Earlier last week, I had requested to take over an existing WordPress account from a colleague of mine (who recently retired). I had wanted to change the URL address to suit my name. I was instructed to speak with my colleague and have them log into their wordpress account and give the permission for me to take over the account. The problem now is that I’m having issues logging into the account that I’ve taken over and the password. How do I reset my password so that I can give this to my colleague so that she can get into her old account ? Thanks!!

Hi there!
While we are unable to help with account recovery issues in the forums, I’d like to understand what’s happening here. When you say you took over the account, do you mean you were added as an administrator to the site, or did the other owner give you the login credentials to her account?
If you’re trying to log into the same account that the other owner has, you’d need the credentials from the current owner. We don’t recommend that, though. We recommend asking the current owner to follow these instructions:
When that’s done, you can change the site URL or even remove the previous owner from the site. Without them transferring the site to your account or you logging into their account, you won’t be able to make changes to the site.
Hope that helps!
